CBCT & OPG Dental Imaging at SwissMed Clinic

SwissMed Clinic in Dubai provides on-site panoramic OPG and three-dimensional CBCT imaging to support accurate diagnosis and confident treatment planning. Scans are quick, comfortable, and performed with low-dose protocols. Digital files and reports are shared securely with your dentist or specialist so decisions can be made without delay.

What is an OPG (Panoramic X-ray)

An OPG is a single panoramic image that captures both jaws, all teeth, and the surrounding structures in one view. It is ideal for routine screening at check-ups, assessing wisdom teeth and their relationship to nerves and sinuses, evaluating the temporomandibular joints, and providing an overview for orthodontic planning. The examination is simple and non-invasive: you stand still while the machine rotates gently around your head and the image appears on screen within seconds. Dentists use this wide field to spot issues such as cysts, fractures, impacted teeth, or unusual anatomy that may not be visible on small intraoral films.

What is a CBCT 3D Scan

CBCT (Cone Beam CT) produces high-resolution three-dimensional images of teeth, bone, nerves, sinuses, and facial structures. It is the gold standard when detailed mapping will change care—for example, planning dental implants with millimetre precision, evaluating complex root canal anatomy, guiding oral surgery, studying the airway and TMJ, or preparing for orthognathic (jaw alignment) procedures. Your clinician can measure bone height and width, visualise vital structures, and choose the safest, most predictable approach before treatment begins.

Why Choose SwissMed Clinic for Imaging

Our imaging suite uses medical-grade systems and low-dose protocols to keep exposure as low as reasonably achievable. Scans take only minutes and are performed by trained staff in a calm, hygienic setting with protective measures used whenever appropriate. Results are delivered fast: images are reviewed for quality immediately, then provided digitally with a structured report to your treating dentist or specialist. When needed, on-site interpretation by dental radiology experts is available to clarify findings and accelerate planning.

Who We Support

SwissMed Clinic welcomes both registered patients and referrals. We routinely scan for general dentists, endodontists, implantologists, orthodontists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, and ENT specialists when sinus or airway views are required. If you are attending with a referral, bring any previous images so we can avoid unnecessary repeats and match the requested field of view precisely.

Your Scan Experience

Your visit begins with a brief history and an explanation of the view your clinician has prescribed. You may be asked to remove jewellery or removable appliances so the image is clear. Positioning is quick and comfortable; most OPGs are completed in under a minute of exposure and CBCT acquisitions take only seconds, with total room time usually just a few minutes. After the scan, you can resume normal activities straight away. Digital files are sent securely to your dentist, and copies can be provided to you on request.

Safety and Radiation

All imaging is justified clinically and performed with modern digital equipment that reduces dose while maintaining diagnostic quality. We follow strict ALARA principles and include shielding where appropriate. If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, please tell the team so we can discuss timing, alternatives, and additional precautions.

Referrals are welcome, but you can also book directly if your SwissMed clinician has recommended imaging as part of your care. External dentists can submit requests and will receive images and reports digitally.

Most appointments take around ten minutes door to door. The actual exposure time is very short—seconds for CBCT and under a minute for OPG.

Yes. We use low-dose protocols and prescribe imaging only when it adds meaningful information that will influence your treatment plan. Protective measures are used during every exposure.

When clinically indicated, children can be scanned using paediatric protocols that further reduce dose. Your clinician will justify the study and explain why it is necessary.
